Alexander Haas billing programs: The right strategy

Management consultant for real estate management Alexander Haas talks about Impower in his latest article.

Company billing software on the wrong track - Why an all-in-one package is not the solution

Although many property managers work as process-optimized as possible and have been working completely digitally for years, the existing core does not fit into the overall concept. This is because the billing programs are still the leading systems, which fortunately does not have to remain the case. Especially because working with billing programs is often visually unappealing and usually unnecessarily complicated in terms of operation due to decades-old software architectures.

More and more companies are offering their software solution as a so-called all-in-one package, which goes far beyond billing and booking. In addition to the resulting dependency dilemma, there is also the question of whether a single provider has the expertise for this entire range of services and can offer the whole thing at a reasonably adequate price.

Perhaps it is better to aim for a lean solution after all, ideally in the cloud. It is also worth noting in this context that some manufacturers are now offering their traditional billing programs as such a cloud variant. However, this only involves remote access to the manufacturer's server.

The market is moving - Allow me: Impower

For many years, lmmoware24 was the only real cloud solution available. However, a number of competitors are now positioning themselves - the market is finally moving. There are new, interesting providers such as Impower: a modern accounting solution with the option of integrating other market participants such as customer portals or tools like Sharepoint via open, bidirectional interfaces.

For example, Impower can set up a process-optimized and automated invoice capture for the remittance process and subsequent automated document storage on Sharepoint using Microsoft PowerAutomate. This could be an uncomplicated solution for one of the most time-consuming administrative tasks, without the need for a complex and expensive document management system.

A lean accounting program with an interface to the customer portal and Microsoft 365 would be more than enough.

Always ask yourself the question - which accounting software is right for your property management company

Irrespective of this, the question must always be asked as to which accounting software suits the respective property management company and what is really needed for a solution that is as employee-friendly as possible. This is because the requirements here can sometimes be very different. However, there should be a consensus that the trend is towards the cloud. Backup functions should also be available here. Finally, an important criterion for the hopefully well-thought-out change of accounting program: it should be possible to import the master data from the previous software so that the time required for the change remains manageable.
